Anna Hulačová: Total Cultivation
Galerie Rudolfinum presents a major solo exhibition by Anna Hulačová, one of the most distinctive figures in contemporary Czech sculpture. Alongside works not previously shown in the Czech Republic, new pieces created specifically for this exhibition will be on display for the first time.
The title Anna Hulačová: Total Cultivation reflects the artist’s longstanding interest in the transformation of agricultural landscapes and the promise of progress and abundance historically associated with their usage. Today, these promises are giving way to sadness over the loss of biodiversity and anxiety about the future. Hulačová’s figurative sculptures bring together seemingly opposing worlds: the natural and the industrial, the old and the new. Through the tensions that emerge, Hulačová’s art reveals the complex relationships that shape our coexistence with the world around us.
