Michal Cáb | Music Pop Up in the Exhibition | Art Sounds ⬩ Poetics of Encryption

As a part of the accompanying programme to Poetics of Encryption exhibition, Michal Cáb will present his Thirty-three short cryptic songs about the state of the contemporary world (Třiatřicet krátkých písňů kryptických o stavu světa současného) on Tuesday, March 4 at 6 pm. The 33-minute compositions will comment on the individual artists whose works are on view in the exhibition. Visitors will encounter data mocking, mashups, remixes and free associations during the performance. On the instrumental side, listeners will have the opportunity to hear a spectrum including the nasal flute on one side and the double bass clarinet on the other, and in the digital domain especially granular synthesis. Maybe we should say something more, but leaving the space empty in favour of the mystery and unpredictability of what awaits the listener is probably not a bad thing...

Free admission.

Michal Cáb

A sound and conceptual artist who draws on the practice of post-digital approaches to media. He works mainly with noise improvisation, synthesizer programming, algorithmic composition and sound installations. He studied theology and postgraduate studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in Tomáš Vaňek's Intermedia III atelier. In his pedagogical and artistic practice, he deals mainly with the use of instruments, programming languages and open source software as a basic means of expression. He has created a number of exhibition and theatre projects (in the last six months, for example, the opera Malý třesk (The Little Bang) in Olomouc and the exhibition Music is Obsolete at Galerie AVU). An existential humour is close to him, as well as knitting with friends and playing the (contra)bass clarinet. You can follow Michal Cáb's work on his website and Instagram.

Art Sounds

Enjoy the music between the exhibited works! The project was originally created as a collaboration between Galerie Rudolfinum and the Czech Philharmonic in Zhanna Kadyrova: UNEXPECTED and Antony Gormley / Pavla Melková exhibition programmes. With the exhibition Poetics of Encryption, Art Sounds now bring contemporary experimental and electronic music directly into Galerie Rudolfinum's exhibition halls.

Free entry

More information about the event can be found on the Galerie Rudolfinum website.
