Symphony No. 6 in B Minor "Pathétique"
The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra will open the evening with the Fairy Tale-Poem by contemporary Russian author Sofia Gubaidulina. This orchestral work tells the story of a piece of white school chalk that dreams of drawing beautiful castles, gardens and seas on a blackboard Instead, it has to write boring words and numbers and draw geometric shapes every day. The schoolchildren are growing up and there is less and less writing for it. Will someone's childlike hand make her dreams come true?
The Czech première of Concerto for Violin in G Minor, Op. 67 by Mieczysław Weinberg, a Soviet composer of Polish origin, will be performed by German violinist Linus Roth. He has systematically devoted himself to Weinberg's works – he founded the International Weinberg Society and performs his compositions on stage as well as recording and publishing them. So let's look forward to an insightful rendition of this composition.
The end of the evening will bring the popular Symphony No. 6 in E Minor "Pathétique" by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. This engaging programme was rehearsed and will be conducted by the renowned Latvian conductor Andris Poga.
The concert will be broadcast live on Czech Radio Vltava. A recording of the concert will also be broadcast on the Czech Radio D-dur programme every Wednesday.
